Friday Faves: (3) Of My New Favorite Bloggers

Sometimes it’s nice to tell the people who inspire you, “Hey, you inspire me! Thanks for writing! Thanks for sharing your life with the internet!” So that’s what I’m doing today.

July 24, 2020

Hey Girl Hey!

It’s Friday again and ya girl is NOT complaining. I honestly have no complaints about this week, I am just ready to get my weekend started and ahead of the curve with planning out my content and writing my last week of blogs for the #MJConsistencyChallenge.

Not only have I written a blog post Mon-Fri for the past three weeks, I have also proven to myself that I am capable of being successful. Don’t get me wrong, I still have some tweaking to do and areas that I need to work on as it pertains to the success of my business however, writing every day, even though I only had to post(5) days out of the week has given me a sense of accomplishment. Reminder: I can do this!  So,I am thankful to Mattie James for creating this challenge as it has truly pushed me to take my blog and my brand to the next level.

While we’re talking about the consistency challenge, not only have I personally learned some things about myself, Mattie created an awesome Facebook group that really opened up the opportunity for me to network and meet some awesome creators. It’s nothing like seeing (even if it’s virtual) such a large representation of black women creators in one setting. I did a zoom call with a few of the ladies in the group, engaged on several posts, and I even found some new blogger babes to follow.

There are so many blogs to read, and so many creators but, for the past three weeks I have not only read the blogs of a few ladies, but we’ve actually been engaging with one another on our Instagram pages and I absolutely love their spirits in addition to their content. The blogging community is such a special place, and it’s been so inspiring to “meet”other like-minded women. So for today’s Friday Faves, I wanted to introduce you to some of the sweet friends I’ve made through blogging, and whom I think you’ll love as well. I mean… You can never read too many blogs, right?!?!

My (3) Favorite Bloggers

To kick things off, I’ll start with lifestyle and mommy blogger Whitney Blocker from Blockereverafter.com  Whitney put a post in the Mattie James Facebook Group sharing her “Pinterest is more than Recipes” course. The picture she has for the course was simple but super pretty so I clicked on the link.

Once I got to her site I learned that she is a new mommy to a beautiful baby girl, a wife, Christian, and like myself a “Google-it Expert.  Whitney shares several tips about motherhood and photography and has more so recently created a post about her journey with God and her trust in Him through giving her tithes. I have a similar story. Also, she has some awesome presets for sale AND she creates some beautiful Pinterest pins. I subscribed to her email list and received (8) for free.

To support, I also purchased her Pinterest pin bundle which I have been putting to use this week. If you haven’t read her blog I promise you won’t regret it! You can also follow her on Instagram and Facebook. What are you waiting for? Click the links!

Up next is Jessica from itsjessicalindsay.com. I met her on that zoom call I mentioned earlier on. The call was organized by a fellow member of the Mattie James Facebook group. The zoom call was initially for content creating but, it turned into a chat session of about 10 ladies determined to grow their unique brands.

We did discuss our challenges and goals for our brands however, we spent the duration of the call getting to know one another. Once you log onto Jessica’s site, her name in a pretty cursive font and the message “Curating a Life you Love” greets you. Those subtleties were just enough to keep me scrolling through her site.

One thing that I learned about Jessica was that she was once a corporate girl and mental health counselor and decided to step into her ultimate calling of entrepreneurship and blogging.  Jessica talks all things home décor, travel, and self-care, and she also shares her tips and knowledge about fashion resales as she has a Poshmark shop as well.

One thing I truly love about Jessica is that she’s genuine and I can always count on a like or comment from her on my posts and I make sure that I give that same love and support right back on her page.Check out her latest blog and be sure to follow her over on Instagram too!

For my last favorite blogger of the day, I have the pleasure of introducing you too Taren Tooten from tarentooten.com. Website designer, digital marketer, blogger, nail tech, AND MBA Grad. Let’s go Taren!!! Call me bias, but, anyone that has made it through grad school gets my follow lol. I’m joking.

Anyways, I ran across Taren’s page while doing a search on the MattieJamesConsistencyhallenge hashtag. (I was curious to see where I fell on the explorer page)). I was interested to learn about her passions and what exactly she was pursuing as a blogger.

On her website, I found that she just this year decided to step out on faith and pursue entrepreneurship. One thing that stood out to me about her story was that she started out creating in her church. It was through creating a site for her church that she discovered her passion and her niche.

Reading more of her story, I learned that she continued to invest in herself by going to Grad school and taking the time to educate herself more on Wordpress plug-ins and design. She already has a great portfolio and I am looking forward to seeing how God moves on her behalf. If you’re interested in DIY’s, Taren is your girl! I just finished reading her DIY Spotted wall that she shared without using wallpaper! Go check it out! And make sure to follow her on Instagram as well.

As I journey through building my brand it is my desire to grow a community of my own. A community that meets you just where you are. Similar to God right?!?! God meets us right where we are. No push, no pull, and no gimmicks.

He accepts us in the manner in which we come to him. I like to say, He doesn’t call the qualified, but He qualifies the called. I’m not God, but He created us in his image am I right? And so, every day of our lives we should be working on seeing like Him, talking like Him, & thinking like Him.

It’s not about popularity, not about numbers it’s all about value, your story, & the impact that you have on others. Regardless of how long you've been on this journey. You make a difference. I’m a newbie on the block but, I want to share my space with so many great bloggers specifically nano influencers/content creator/ bloggers. It is my goal to take my followers on a journey so 2 years down the road they can say: I remember when she first started out, look at what she’s accomplished… And we WILL say the same thing! Keep striving ladies I’m rooting for you every step of the way!

XOXO,

Angie
